This is an AMAZING Eye opening Documentary about something that most of us know nothing about… Fistulas. They are quite common in other ‘poorer’ countries where a young woman’s growth is stunted from overwork and malnutrition and is then married off very young bearing a child shortly thereafter, Her pelvis is often too small to accommodate birthing a baby and is often in labor for days and in many cases the baby dies. The long unproductive labor often taking place hours from any hospital presses the baby’s head against the pelvis for far too long resulting in dead tissue that often just falls away leaving a hole for urine and or feces to constantly leak out. This is 100% preventable! The stigma is devastating for these young women as often they are ostracized from their communities and families due to this uncontrollable ‘leaking’ condition. This documentary follows young women on a quest to the Fistula Hospital often many hours walking and busing from their villages. The joy that is restored to their lives after being ‘cured’ is immeasurable. A Beautiful story in Ethiopia that leaves us to wonder why …
